    About This Location

    The Edro III is a cargo ship that has sat aground on the rocks below the cliffs near Peyia since December 2011. She was sailing from Limassol to Rhodes when a storm drove her onto the shore, and her crew were lifted off by helicopter during the night. She was never refloated, and she has been left where she stopped ever since, close enough to the rocks that the whole hull is visible from the clifftop above.

    More than a decade of sea air has turned the ship a deep rust red, and she has become one of the most photographed sights on the west coast. The spot is busiest in the hour before sunset, when the light drops behind her and the ship reads as a silhouette against the water. The coastline around her is open and rocky, with the Peyia Sea Caves immediately to the south and the road running north towards the Akamas Peninsula. Nothing has been built at the wreck itself, which is a good part of the appeal.
