About Galata
Galata lies in the Solea valley on the northern side of Troodos, where the Karyotis river runs between wooded slopes. The village is best known for its painted churches, small timber roofed buildings whose interiors are covered in sixteenth century wall paintings.
It sits close to Kakopetria, and the two are usually visited together on a drive through the valley.
