Akama National Forest Park

Akamas National Forest Park covers an area of more than 230 square kilometres on the northwestern tip of Cyprus. It is one of the island’s last remaining wilderness areas, protected for its natural beauty and ecological importance. The park includes everything from dense pine forests and deep gorges to sandy coves and crystal-clear waters. It is a favourite destination for hikers, photographers, and visitors looking to experience the island’s most authentic landscapes.

Within Akamas, visitors can explore a wide variety of sites. The Blue Lagoon is famous for its turquoise water and calm swimming conditions, while the Avakas Gorge offers a dramatic hiking route through high limestone walls. The Baths of Aphrodite, located near Latchi, mark the mythical site where the goddess Aphrodite is said to have bathed. Several nature trails, such as the Aphrodite and Adonis Trails, lead through scenic viewpoints overlooking the sea and the Akamas coastline.

Akamas remains one of the best places in Cyprus to connect with nature. It is home to many plant species found nowhere else on the island and is an important nesting area for green and loggerhead turtles.
